FAQ
Questions people actually ask
Both tools, licensing, supported characters, file sizes and the occasional rendering surprise — everything in one place.
What can I do on this site?
There are three tools. The fancy text generator turns plain text into thirty Unicode styles you can copy and paste into Instagram, TikTok, Discord, WhatsApp or X. The colour image generator paints text on the server with a gradient, glow, outline or shadow and exports a PNG up to 1080 × 1920 pixels. The video generator animates a word with ghost, glitch, neon, fire, typewriter, wave, chrome or bounce effects and records it as a WebM or MP4 clip.
How does the animated text video tool work?
The animation is drawn frame by frame on a canvas inside your browser, exposed as a media stream and encoded by the built-in MediaRecorder API. Nothing is rendered on the server, so the tool costs us nothing to run and your text never leaves your device.
Why does generating a video take as long as the clip itself?
Recording is real time: the browser has to play the animation once to capture every frame. A six second clip takes roughly six seconds, plus a short encoding pause afterwards. Keep the tab in the foreground while it records.
Do the fancy fonts work in Instagram bios, TikTok names and Discord?
Yes. The styled text is made of ordinary Unicode characters, not a font file, so it survives copy and paste in every mainstream app. A few heavily decorated styles — glitch and zalgo — stack several combining marks per letter and may be trimmed or filtered when you save a profile or bio.
Why does the copied text look different in another app?
The receiving app draws the characters with a font installed on that device. Current Android, iOS, Windows and macOS ship with the mathematical, circled and squared letter blocks, so the common styles look identical everywhere. Old devices, in-game browsers and some TV apps may show empty rectangles instead.
Can I use fancy characters in a username?
Most platforms restrict usernames to letters, numbers, full stops and underscores, so decorated characters are rejected there. Use them in the display name, the bio, captions, comments and chat messages instead.
Is the colour text generator really free?
Yes. Rendering, the transparent background option and the full resolution PNG download are free and require no account. The site is supported by advertising, which is why you will see ad units on some pages.
Do I need to install software or a browser extension?
No. Everything runs in the browser and on our server. You only need a modern browser with JavaScript enabled for the live preview. If JavaScript is blocked you can still open any image URL directly.
Can I use the exported images commercially?
Yes. Images you generate may be used for personal and commercial projects: client work, product listings, ads, print, video thumbnails and social posts. Attribution is appreciated but not required. You may not resell the generator itself or claim the tool as your own.
Do you add a watermark?
No. The PNG contains only the text and background you chose. There is no logo, no corner mark and no hidden metadata.
Which fonts are available and how are they licensed?
Seven typefaces are bundled: Archivo Black, Anton, Bebas Neue, DM Serif Display, Bungee, Righteous and Pacifico. All of them are distributed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, which permits commercial use and embedding in generated output.
Can I type emoji, Chinese, Arabic or Hindi?
Latin, Greek, Cyrillic and common CJK characters work when the chosen typeface contains them. Emoji and complex scripts that need shaping — Arabic, Hebrew, Devanagari, Thai — are not supported by the GD rendering engine and may appear as empty boxes.
Why does my text get cut off?
Each line is capped at sixty characters and the form accepts a maximum of four lines. When a preset canvas is smaller than the text, the font size is reduced automatically; if it still does not fit, shorten the line or switch to the Auto canvas.
How do I get a transparent background?
Choose the chequered swatch under Background. The exported PNG keeps its alpha channel, so the letters can be dropped onto a photo, a video or a coloured slide without a visible box.
What resolution do the downloads have?
Auto crops tightly around the text. Presets are fixed: Square 1080 × 1080, Post 1080 × 1350, Story 1080 × 1920 and Wide 1200 × 630 pixels. All exports are PNG with an alpha channel.
Why is the preview blurry compared with the download?
The browser scales the preview down to fit your screen, so a 1080 pixel image is displayed at a few hundred pixels. The downloaded file is rendered at full resolution and will look sharp at 100%.
Is my text stored on your server?
The text you type is part of the image URL and is used only to render the PNG. Rendered images may be cached for a limited period to keep the service fast. We do not build profiles of users and we do not sell data. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Can I use a generated image as a logo?
Technically yes, but a raster PNG is not an ideal logo format because it does not scale to print sizes. If the mark matters, recreate the wordmark as vector artwork in a design tool and use the generator for social media versions.
Why do some styles look worse at small sizes?
Multi-stop gradients need enough pixels to show the transition. Below roughly 120 pixels wide, a five-colour rainbow turns muddy — use a bolder font, a two-colour style such as Candy or Ice, or export at the Auto canvas and scale down yourself.
Can I request a new colour style or font?
Yes, and requests are welcome. Send a short description of the look you need through the contact page; recurring requests are usually added in the next update.
Is there an API?
There is no public API or key. The image endpoint accepts GET parameters, so any URL you can build can be embedded in an <img> tag, but heavy or automated use is not permitted under the Terms of Service.
