About
A small tool, built on purpose
IGFont exists because the usual “fancy font” sites give you Unicode characters that only look right in one app and turn into black text everywhere else. We wanted a generator that produces a real image file — one that looks identical in Instagram, in a video editor and on a printer.
What the site does
There are three tools. The fancy text generator swaps plain letters for look-alike Unicode symbols — cursive, bold, small caps, circled, glitch and more — so the styled text can be copied straight into an Instagram bio or a Discord nickname. That conversion happens in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
The animated text video generator draws ghost, glitch, neon, fire, typewriter, wave, chrome and bounce animations on a canvas and records the result with the browser’s own MediaRecorder API. It runs entirely on your device, so a clip costs no server time at all.
The colour image generator paints text on the server, layer by layer: an anti-aliased glyph mask, a gradient fill, an expanded stroke, a blurred glow and a drop shadow. The result is encoded as a PNG at the exact pixel size you selected. There is no canvas screenshot, no upscaling and no watermark, so the download is as sharp as the preview promises.
How it is built
The whole site is plain PHP with the GD extension. No JavaScript framework, no external rendering service, no tracker beyond the advertising tag. That keeps pages small — most of them load in well under a second — and it means the images are produced on our hardware, not on yours. If you are curious about the rendering steps, the how it works page describes them.
Fonts and the law
Every typeface offered here is released under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. That licence
allows commercial use and embedding, which is exactly why we chose it: you should not have to
worry about a font licence when you publish a birthday banner or a client thumbnail. The
original licence texts travel with the font files in the fonts/ directory of the
application.
Editorial rules
- Guides describe what the tool actually does — no invented features.
- Style and font descriptions mention limitations, not only benefits.
- Ads are labelled, never disguised as navigation or as a download button.
- Pages are written and maintained by a human; suggestions from readers are read and answered.
Independence
IGFont is not affiliated with Instagram, Meta, TikTok, ByteDance, Google, YouTube or any font foundry. Brand names are mentioned only to describe where the exported images can be used.
